The Vote Is In — Here's What We're Building and What Happens Next

The Veil Workshop vote closed on Friday 17 July. And you chose Drop Veil with Lace.

I'll be honest: I really wasn't sure - I thought it would actually be 3D flowers and I'd been thinking about that workshop! A drop veil is a lovely pick and can be very subtle and whimsical or bold and dramatic... I'm excited about adding lace to this style for the embellishment workshop.

What you voted for

There are a lot of lovely veils out there using the winning combo.

Drop Veil was one of three veil styles on the vote — alongside One Tier and Juliet Cap. Lace was one of three embellishment options — alongside 3D Flowers and Pearls.

Between them, Drop Veil and Lace won. Which means that's exactly what I'm building.

What happens now

The first Veil Workshop is built around one veil, made properly, from start to finish: a Drop Veil with Lace.

Here's the structure:

Module 0 — Before We Start

Sent the moment you sign up. Everything to do before you touch a metre of fabric: the 10 decisions, fabric and comb ordered, workspace prepped, measuring done. The work that makes the making easier.

Module 1 — Prep (Saturday 5th September)

Fabric and workspace. Getting everything ready to cut.

Module 2 — Lay Out and Cut (Saturday 12th September)

The flat pattern, the length, the hem shape, the cut. The part most tutorials rush. We don't.

Module 3 — Gather (Saturday 19th September)

Gathering the veil — do you want to or need to?

Techniques with a sewing machine, or by hand if you don't have one. Both are covered.

Module 4 — Cover and Attach the Comb (Saturday 26th September)

Making the attachment look considered, not just functional.

Module 5 — Finishing (Saturday 4 October)

The finishing work that takes a veil from homemade to handmade.

Module 6 — Lace Add-On (Saturday 10th October, £/$10 extra)

Adding Lace to the finished veil. Optional, but if you've come this far — you might as well make it yours.

Who this is for

The beta cohort is capped at 10 spots. This isn't a passive course you buy and forget. It's the first time I've run this workshop, and I want it to be good — which means a small group, real feedback, and the kind of attention I can only give to ten people.

You don't need to have sewn before. You need fabric, a comb, some basic sewing kit, and the willingness to send me a photo when you're stuck.
